June 2015 - Summary

What an interesting month June has been. Even though I technically started Dividend Growth Investing in May, it was only a few days in May. June is my first full month investing in Dividend Stocks as well as blogging. So how did I do?

Current Portfolio:

My current portfolio that is updated live can be found here.

Current total value is $22,360.

Goals:

Each month, I will look at my goals for the year and see my progress. This will help me focus on what is important and what I need to improve over the coming month.

Goal 1. Write 100 posts on this blog by the end of the year (started in May, so its prorated).
  • ON TRACK! I have written 10 posts in the month of June on this blog. With 6 months left, I am on track to write 70 posts for the year. 30% less than my goal, but still a success on my book. 100 may have been ambitious, but I will know more my speed for next year.

Goal 2. Dividend payments of $750 from portfolio.
  •  ON TRACK! My Current portfolio shows that I will receive dividend payments of over $800 on a yearly basis. So far, that is on track and surpassing my goal.
Goal 3. Comment on at least 5 posts each week from similar blogs

  •  ON TRACK! It is hard to tell how many posts I have commented on. I don't know how to get that information, but I know I have been reading every post written by members of my Blogroll and I have commented on many of them. For Next year, perhaps I will find a way to make this more measurable.
Goal 4. Increase portfolio by $5,000
  • ON TRACK! At this point, I have established my account but have not really added anything to it. For the month of July, I will start with additions. With 6 months left for the year, I only need to average $850 per month in order to hit this goal. For now, that does not seem to be a problem.
Goal 5. Increase Twitter Followers to over 100.
  • ON TRACK! As of this writing, I have 31 followers and I am following 92 on my twitter account @iwtrsfeed. I don't want to just accumulate followers that aren't interested in my progress or articles, I want followers that actually care. I need to determine the best way to do this but I plan on looking at who fellow bloggers are following and see if I can increase the people I follow in hopes of getting follow backs.

  1. Adam,

Great start with your portfolio. You should see regular income from your investments soon.

All you need to do is to repeat this 20-30 times.

  2. Adam,
What a huge amount of buys! You really took a flying start there. That's great.
Dividends are about to start rolling in. Like that "little" dividend from WPC for example:)

    1. Hi DL,

Thanks for the comment! Ya WPC is sweet for dividend prospects right now but its way too large of a position in my portfolio. Hopefully it will recover some and i can sell

  4. You are headed in the right direction. Keep up with these solid buys and watch that dividend income start to roll in. June has been a pretty busy month for you in terms of spreading your money around. I guess you are eager to diversify fast. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Hi DH! I am very eager to diversify for the long term. I feel so much better about my money and my future growth owning 30 companies as opposed to placing all my bets on just a couple stocks. Blue Chips, Aristocrats, whatever... as we have seen in the past with Enron, Tyco, etc... scandals can happen overnight and destroy a company. Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Adam,

You are on FIRE (no pun intended).

That's some exciting growth. Looks like you are on track with everything so far.

I think I'll have to write up a post like this for myself. You have inspired me!

    Keep it up.

    1. Thanks JC. I guess I set my goals a little low this year. Which is ok. Just need to get a feel for what I can do and adjust accordingly. Never understood how incredibly supportive this community is though. Truly awesome!
